Baumgartner Designs

This is an ADA compliant apartment that was designed around a retired couple, one of which is in a wheelchair, in Colfax Washington. The apartment is a 2-bedroom 2 bath unit with an income unit on the same floor.

Concept

The design is based on a dock and the paying with the organic and rigidness of the water vs the rigid dock. Cool tones are also used in the space to go along with the color scheme of blues and browns.

Design Application

The home has a cool refreshing design an open floor plan and a large gourmet kitchen. There are multiple 5’ turn arounds in the space along with a roll under sinks, lowered countertops, reinforced walls for support bars for aging in place. And the floorplan is organized to make it easy for the client to navigate wheels and all. The client also hosts a cooking group so the design of the kitchen took priority in this space.
